Just as they did in the second semi final, Williamstown CYMS again jumped out of the blocks like a steam train against Therry Penola in the Division 1 Grand Final on their way to a memorable premiership win. Williamstown thwarted Therry’s attempt to win back to back flags, instead creating their own history in a memorable Grand Final display at Carlton’s Visy Park.
Therry Penola may have won more games than Williamstown CYMS this year but in the end, it was the CY’s ability to give the Lions their only two defeats of the year in the biggest games that saw the CY’s claim the flag.
John kicked six of Willy’s total and was a constant threat around goal Ben Gray again played an important role against Therry’s big name players. Therry had only managed four goals to three quarter time in a demonstration of Williamsttown’s dominance throughout the day.
