The Victorian Amateur Football Association has appointed David Kinsella as U19 Big V representative coach ahead of our clash against AFL Victoria Country on July 7 at MARS Stadium in Ballarat.
Kinsella, who has been an assistant for the past four years, welcomed the challenge of steering the Big V to its first win against the Country since 2013.
“With a core group of U19 representatives returning and an influx of new talent, I think we can definitely bridge the gap,” he said.
“Assembling the squad as early as possible is the key to establishing relationships that will be complimentary on game day.
“This is our one opportunity to showcase the VAFA’s young talent to the football community and I am really excited by it.”
The game, which will be a curtain-raiser to AFL Victoria’s Country vs Metro showdown, allows our U19s to play on a VFL quality ground against a formidable opponent made up of players from the strongest country competitions in Victoria.
The VAFA thanks outgoing coach, David Gately, for his commitment to the Big V program over the past three years and for his contribution to the development of our elite underage talent.
The Big V produced its strongest performance since 2013 when they went down to the Country by just four points at Frankston City Oval last year.
