2025 Premier Thirds Men’s Fixture
The Premier Thirds competition delivered arguably the biggest upset of the entire VAFA season, with St Kevin’s claiming the flag in a 5-point thriller over Old Xaverians, who had finished
Old Geelong has made a significant off-field move to help ensure their continued growth as a football club, appointing former VAFA President, Big V coach, three-time Old Xaverians premiership coach and 200-game player, Nick Bourke, as their Director of Football.
“The Old Geelong Football Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Nick Bourke as the Club’s first ever Director of Football. Nick’s appointment in the newly created roll is a huge bonus for the Club as we seek to boost professionalism in every aspect of our football operations.
Nick will largely work behind the scenes to support and mentor our coaching team and oversee our player development programs. Nick has significant playing and coaching experience, having played over 200 games of VAFA football, coached Old Xaverians to three A-Grade premierships, coached the VAFA representative side for a record 8 years, and has been an assistant coach of the Carlton Reserves side. He has also led the VAFA as President, and the Australian Amateur Football Council as Chairman.
We are very lucky to have someone with such vast experience at the Club, and believe Nick will be vital in shaping the strategic direction of our football and development programs. Having a Director of Football also highlights our desire to learn and improve on our success year after year.
Nick has also voiced his excitement in joining the OGs, “I am delighted to be part of such a progressive club in the Old Geelong Football Club. I’m excited by the role and to be working with an enthusiastic coaching panel and playing list. There certainly is a strong desire to move up the grades and the hard work and courage of the committee to appoint a Director of Football is testament to that”.
All players and supporters are invited to come and meet Nick at our Christmas BBQ following the final pre-Christmas training session on Wednesday 16th December upstairs in the Como Pavillion. Training will begin at 6pm followed by the BBQ starting around 7pm. Please pass on the invitation to anyone who is interested in playing with or supporting the OGs in 2016.
On behalf of the entire OGs family, welcome on-board Nick!
