The VAFA is Melbourne wide, has excellent umpiring training programs & a high standard of football. It is a great football competition to start your umpiring career. Over the last 10 years 17 VAFA Umpires have gone into VFL/AFL Umpiring.

Former Salesian, Old Melburnian and St Bedes Mentone Tigers star Michael Hazell has been elected to the VAFA Board following the resignation of John Bell at the VAFA AGM.

The VAFA held it’s Annual General Meeting last night at the Melbourne Racing Club at which Vice-President John Bell’s resignation was announced and the subsequent Board vacancy was filled by Michael Hazell from St Mary’s Salesian.

Richmond Central AFC have appointed Peter McBrearty as Senior Coach for 2009.

Old Camberwell has appointed David Loats as playing Coach for season 2009.

Mitch Brown from the Old Mentonians has been selected at Pick 15 by Geelong in the 2008 AFL National Draft at the weekend.
