For the first time in the competition’s history, all five matches in William Buck Premier Men’s will be streamed live on VAFA.com.au this weekend as part of Showcase Round. See the full schedule below.
Thanks to the support of VAFA’s broadcast production partner My Sport Live, Showcase Round (as Round 3 will be known) represents a significant step towards VAFA Media’s goal of delivering more live footy to its legion of fans.
“As supporters, we’ve become accustomed to regularly watching our teams in action, be they around the corner or around the world,” said VAFA Broadcast & Content Manager, Jason Bennett.
“That visibility has become important in building and maintaining an emotional connection with a team, competition, or sport.
“If we can watch them regularly, we can stay connected. But daily life is getting busier, so making it to games isn’t always possible. Hence, live streams have become an important part of our viewing rituals.
“So, one of our primary focuses at VAFA Media is increasing the number of live-streamed matches we broadcast throughout the season. With the help of My Sport Live, we’re excited to bring fans every William Buck Premier Men’s match this weekend.”
Showcase Round will kick off with the traditional ANZAC Day clash between Old Scotch and Collegians on Friday afternoon and will ramp up with four Premier Men’s matches simultaneously live-streamed on VAFA.com.au on Saturday afternoon.
“We want to capture that excitement of going ‘Around the Grounds’ on a Saturday arvo,” said Bennett.
“You can be anywhere doing anything and stay across four live VAFA games on your phone, tablet, computer or smart TV. So, if there’s a thrilling finish at another ground, you can flick across to that game and enjoy it.
“You might want to stay home in front of your computer and set up your own Megawall to watch all four at once!
“We’ll also have a William Buck Premier Women’s double-header live streaming on KommunityTV from 8.30am Saturday morning. It promises to be a huge clash between two undefeated teams – Old Geelong and Caulfield Grammarians – on a massive quadruple-header day for the OGs at Como Park.
“All four of their teams – both the women’s and the men’s Seniors and Reserves – will be playing, and they’ll unfurl their 2024 Premier B Women’s flag between the Women’s Ressies and Seniors. You can watch both those women’s games with your KTV subscription or day pass.”
In exciting news for the Premier B Men’s competition, VAFA Media will also have a Premier B Men’s Showcase Round in Round 16 this season, while additional matches are also being added to the live stream schedule.
“We’re keen to expand our live-streaming activities beyond Premier Men’s and Premier Women’s,” said Bennett.
“There is so much great footy to watch right across the VAFA, as we see come finals time every year. So in Round 16, we’ll partner with My Sport Live to deliver what promises to be a pulsating afternoon of Premier B Men’s footy in the run home to the finals.”
