2024 Premier B Women’s Team of the Year
The VAFA Premier B Women’s competition was a dramatic one in 2024, with Williamstown CYMS the standout home & away team, going a perfect 16-0, only to then bow out
Winner Announcement August – The Pass Volunteer of the Month and Carruthers Executive Coach of the Month
The VAFA received nominations showcasing inspiring stories of how these individuals make a positive impact through their volunteer work or coaching roles within their clubs.
Congratulations to Kate Robinson from Preston Bullants Amateur Football Club for being named The Pass Volunteer of the Month.
Kate was nominated for the award by Philip Smith, a volunteer at the Preston Bullants Amateur Football Club, who also demonstrates the VAFA value of Inclusion.
“Kate undertakes several roles within the clubs which include Vice President, Canteen Manager, Apparel Manger etc. Kate is the heart and soul of the club and the amount of work she does to keep this club moving forward is amazing. Dealing with all the teams and trying to make sure everyone is kitted out and then making sure there’s enough food & drink for everyone on training nights and game day is truly amazing. Kate would be a very deserving VOTM”
Along with the above roles mentioned in the nomination, Kate’s main role was also to look after the club sponsors and get the Player Sponsorship Model up and running within the club. This was a huge benefit for the player base.
Congratulations to Rick Frost from Parkside Football Club for being named Carruthers Executive Coach of the Month.
Rick was nominated for the award by Steven Logozzo, club player from Parkside Football Club, who also demonstrates the VAFA value of Community.
“Rick is an outstanding character, he is constantly thinking of new ways to connect the mens, reserves, thirds, U/19s and womens teams into one unit. He considers getting the juniors and the Under 19s to feel as a part of the senior club and is always welcoming to young keen players. He makes everyone feel as they are an important part of the club, regardless of what team they play in. He is all about footy and getting the most out of the people around him, he wants people to be better and to “”raise their standards””. He is a great coach and an inspiration to those around him.”
This wraps up the monthly recognition awards for the 2024 season. However, we still have The Pass Volunteer of the Year award and the Carruthers Executive Coach of the Year awards (men & women), which will be presented at the VAFA Awards Night on Wednesday 9 October, 2024.
The VAFA extends its gratitude to everyone and every club who nominated deserving recipients for the monthly awards.
