Power House Amateur Football Club has been awarded with the VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month award for July, recognising their commitment to the VAFA’s value of Respect.
The VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month award recognises a VAFA club who through its actions both on and off the field, best exhibits the values of the VAFA, namely Respect, Inclusive, Integrity and Community.
The clubs nominated by VAFA Management in July were:
Mazenod OC FC – Well done to Mazenod OC FC for being nominated by VAFA management for the Club Connect Club of the Month award for July. This recognition highlights the proactive nature of their club members both on and off the field. The club’s commitment to excel in every aspect of the club’s operation is evident in 2024. The club has taken significant steps to increase participation in the Women’s and Girls’ space, including hosting a club-specific Coach Your Way Program, which saw an impressive turnout of 20-25 attendees. Additionally, the club is currently ranked third nationally in the Toyota Good for Footy Raffle (raised over 15k), showcasing their dedication to fundraising and community engagement. Mazenod OC FC continuously grabs every opportunity to excel and elevate their club to the next level.
Old Haileybury FC – Old Haileybury has been nominated by VAFA management for the Club Connect Club of the Month award. This nomination recognises the club’s outstanding efforts off the field. In partnership with St Kilda Football Club and the Danny Frawley Community Centre, Old Haileybury recently hosted their Spuds Game; an initiative to acknowledge and support mental health within the community. Through this collaboration, the club & DFCC organised several fundraising activities to aid this important cause. Furthermore, Old Haileybury has been recognised as an AFL Victoria’s Women & Girls Chartered Club in 2024. This recognition follows the club’s proactive involvement in AFL Victoria’s Women & Girl Charter program, showcasing their commitment to increasing participation and fostering a more inclusive environment for women and girls. Old Haileybury’s dedication to community engagement and inclusivity is truly commendable, making their nomination well-deserved.
Power House AFC – Congratulations to Power House Amateur Football Club for winning the VAFA Club Connect Club of the Month award for July. This recognition follows the VAFA management’s positive experiences with the club throughout 2024. The dedication of the club’s committee members to elevate the club has been outstanding. Earlier this year, the club’s coach and current president received the Coach of the Month award for their exceptional efforts in Women & Girls space and leadership efforts off the field. The club has also proactively engaged through in person meetings & calls with the VAFA for initiatives such as the Telstra Country Footy Grant, Toyota Good for Footy Raffle, TAC Club Rewards Program etc, to maximise their opportunities. Their efforts and achievements have been greatly appreciated by the VAFA, showcasing their approach to be a strong club on & off the field.
As recognition of their award, Power House receive a $150 credit courtesy of Club Connect to restock their canteen/drinks fridge. When told about the award, club President, Warde Elliott said “We are extremely proud and excited to have been awarded July “Club of the Month”. It is a testament to the hard work of our committee, volunteers and playing group. It means so much to us as we work towards a truly inclusive and welcoming club environment. Thank you to all those at VAFA headquarters for considering us for this award. We look forward to being engaged with VAFA and all its initiatives in the future as we continue to endeavour to make our club a better place for all involved. This is a great acknowledgment of the hard work of many!”
