The VAFA congratulates Noah Sutherland from Caulfield Grammarians who has received the Anytime Fitness Rising Star nomination for Round 13. After a strong season in the Under 19’s last year, Noah fought for his spot in the Senior squad and has not disappointed. He has proven himself as a dynamic defender with standout performances week after week.
What the club said:
Noah’s first season at the Grammarians was in 2023 as a shy and skinny kid fresh out of Caulfield Grammar. After a strong pre-season and good form in our practice matches, Noah was on the cusp of playing senior Football before a break in his arm sidelined him for a number of weeks.
Suddsy returned mid-way through the season and played an integral part in our Under 19’s making their way to a Preliminary Final. Noah worked extremely hard on his craft over the off-season and has been a consistent member and a shining light of our senior team in 2024.
Caulfield Grammarians Senior Coach, Guy McKenna said of Noah: “Started his duties down back like most young defenders…see ball punch ball but quickly turned himself into the attacking modern defender you see now. Quiet nature off the ground, thirst for knowledge but an inner drive that makes him continue to grow his game. Blessed with clean hands and quick feet, Noah’s ability to release off his opponent and intercept the ball is a great string to his bow. Given his speed to defend he also has the legs to break lines on offence and turn defence into attack. Often playing undersized, Noah’s ability to find a way to beat his opponent is great credit to his ability to listen and his hard work and diligence. Well done, Suddsy”
