The VAFA congratulates Dane Harvey from Fitzroy FC, who has received the Anytime Fitness Rising Star nomination for Round 2. The 19-year-old has booted 4 goals in his first two Senior games for Fitzroy this season, providing a strong presence ahead of the ball for the Roys.
What the club said:
Dane played his first Senior Game as a 17 year old against St Bede’s in 2022 playing as a forward. He is a very athletic player who competes well in the aerial contest’s and is quite agile for his size. He has a great work ethic, always wanting to improve.
Dane also played one Fitzroy Reserves game against Beaumaris after having a frustrating year in 2023 coming back from a knee injury. Dane has completed a full preseason this year and we are starting to see his enormous potential.
Coach, Travis Ronaldson said, “Dane is an exciting young player with outstanding athleticism who has had a great start to the season. Playing as a tall forward, Dane works hard up and down the ground, competes well at ground level and is great to watch when running and jumping at the footy. We look forward to Dane continuing to develop in coming seasons.”
