The VAFA congratulates Luca Alessio from St Bernards Old Collegians Football Club, who has received the final Men’s Anytime Fitness Rising Star nomination for the 2023 season. Luca has had an exceptional first season at St Bernards and has slotted into their senior side as a young gun quite seamlessly. His consistency throughout the year culminated in his best performance on the weekend, kicking a classy 5 goals; posing him as one to watch in the coming years.
What the club said:
Luca Alessio is first and foremost an outstanding young man. He is always polite and never misses a chance to shake hands and say hello to everyone around the Club.
He joined SBOCFC at the start of the year and has slotted into the forward line with aplomb, playing every game and kicking 20 goals. He assumes a key forward role and also provides ruck relief… all this from an U19 player!
He is unassuming but always pops up with brilliant moments when his team needs him. His strengths are his overhead marking ability and athleticism.
His performance on the weekend (5 goals) is the culmination of a lot of hard work throughout the season. He is a deserved nominee of the Rising Star award.
