The VAFA has confirmed its Community Themed rounds for the 2023 VAFA Season.
Themed rounds have become a regular staple of the VAFA home and away season, this year working alongside the community partners that were part of the 2022 home and away season.
Round 5 of the season will see BCNA (Breast Cancer Network Australia) Round, combine with Community Umpiring Round – Mother’s Day this year falling on Sunday, May 14. While the AFL are the main drivers of Community Umpiring Round occurring on the same weekend.
Round 10 focuses on Tackle Your Feelings Round and the week after the return of the Big V representative game, we will recognise TAC Road Safety Round.
In 2022 the VAFA raised just under $30,000 for BCNA through the BCNA round and the involvement of its clubs. VAFA clubs also received just under $50,000 in funds through the TAC Club Rewards Program based on VAFA clubs promoting the TAC Road Safety message to “Band together”.
Throughout the 2022 season, 14 VAFA clubs engaged in a Tackle Your Feelings workshop to help understand, recognise and respond to sign of mental ill health, the program reached more than 200 coaches and committee members.
VAFA Umpires were also recognised through VAFA Media with current and former AFL Umpires supported the umpiring group during Umpires round with attendance at Umpire training.

The VAFA will review the Community Themed Round Partners at the conclusion of the 2023 season and will ensure a consultation process on the decision on future rounds is clear and transparent.
