The VAFA congratulates Blair Healy from Old Paradians who has been nominated as the Round 11 Rising Star after his 2-goal performance in their 6-point win over Brunswick on the weekend.
What the club said:
At age 19, Blair has a lot of potential with future growth still to come. The youngest of three brothers currently playing for the OPs, the Healy name has a long history with the Club. He played his first game in the Seniors as a 17 year old, and has never looked out of place at the level since.
On the field he currently plays a high half forward role and pinch hits in the ruck here and there. He is very athletic, jumps well and backs himself in to win the ball in his area, especially in the air, where he often puts himself in contention for mark of the year. An added bonus to his game is his ability and pace at ground level, which for a young man standing at 6’3 is a real asset.
Blair certainly has the potential to go to higher levels of football and as a club we are here to develop his game and overall fitness so this can hopefully happen moving forward.
One of several talented players in our forward half he has played consistently this year after a late start, and will be challenged to go to new levels with his football, and is a key player in hopefully leading us towards a finals berth.
