Only one team remains undefeated in Division 1, with a couple of finals hopefuls claiming impressive victories to remain in the hunt.
Old Scotch have solidified themselves as the team to beat in Division 1, downing rivals Old Brighton by 20 points. Jumping out of the blocks quickly, the Cardinals kept the Tonners goalless till half time, before quashing any type of comeback by Old Brighton by keeping them scoreless in the final term as well. Jordan Mifsud and Mia Caffry led the way for Old Scotch, who are now the outright ladder leaders, while Alexandra Theodosi booted all four goals for the Cardinals. Lucy Grant kept her goal kicking form up, kicking both majors for Old Brighton, with India Tait and Caterina O’Brien continuing their stellar form for the Tonners.
Old Scotch will be looking to keep its perfect record intact against a quality Williamstown outfit at Lynden Park next week, while Old Brighton will be looking to bounce back from its first defeat of the year when they travel to face Whitefriars OC.
Williamstown are back in the winners circle this week after defeating Old Melburnians at Fearon Reserve. Leading from at every break, a three goal to zero final term ensured nothing but victory was on the cards for the Cy’s as they ended up 36-point winners. Carli Rickman booted 3 goals for Williamstown with Stephanie Basile chipping in with two goals for as well, as Hannah Elliott earned best on ground honours for the CY’s. Sophie Fraser was best afield for the OM’s.
Williamstown face the tough test of visiting the undefeated Old Scotch, while Old Melburnians will host Old Haileyburians at Elsternwick Park Oval.
A strong second half performance by Old Haileyburians has seen the Hearts notch a comeback victory over Whitefriars OC. In wet and wintery conditions at Princes Park Caulfield, the low scoring affair saw the Hearts goalless before half time, before eventually winding up 2-point victors. Claire Weiss was best afield for Old Haileyburians again, also booting their only goal for the game, whilst Maggie O’Shannassy was the standout for Whitefriars.
Old Haileyburians will be on the road to face Old Melburnians, looking for back-to-back wins to keep them in touch of the top four, as Whitefriars will host a rebounding Old Brighton.
