Big V coaches confirmed for Bendigo clashes
The VAFA are delighted to announce that LUKE MAHONEY & PAUL CARRIGAN will lead the Big V into battle against Bendigo FNL in July. The VAFA will send two teams
Australian test opener, Will Pucovski, has been confirmed as the guest speaker at next month’s VAFA William Buck Season Launch at the MCC Member’s Dining Room.
Pucovski, a Brighton Grammar alumnus and Old Brighton supporter in the VAFA, debuted against India in January and scored 62 in his first innings.
A product of the Melbourne Cricket Club, Pucovski joined the Victorian domestic team in 2016/17 and has since carved out an incredible start to his career with an average of 53.4 and a high score of 255* set in October last year. His opening stand of 486 with Marcus Harris against South Australia is a Sheffield Shield record. He scored 202 in the following match and became the first player since Dene Hills in 1997/98 to score consecutive double centuries in the Sheffield Shield.
He was awarded the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year at the Allan Border Medal ceremony in 2019.
Pucovski will be joined by AFL reporter and Old Camberwell premiership player, Nat Edwards, who will return as MC for the third time. Edwards, who is well-known for her work with AFL Media, 3AW and Channel 7, joined the Wellers in the first year of VAFA Women’s in 2017 and was part of their Development Division 2 premiership-winning side.
The Season Launch will also honour two new Life Members, Michael Hazell and Peter Nash, while Certificate of Merits winners will be recognised from both 2020 and 2021.
