2025 Premier C Men’s Fixture
The Premier C Men’s competition was one of the most entertaining and closely-fought sections across the entire VAFA in 2024 and promises to deliver plenty more excitement in 2025. In
Glen Eira FNC continued their push for additional silverware at Packer Reserve by reappointing premiership coaching duo Jon Edgar (Men’s) and Tim Rossiter (Women’s).
Edgar, who led the men’s side to the 2018 Division 3 flag in his first year, will enter his fourth season in charge after playing a leading role through a difficult 2020 period.
“The disruption of COVID-19 on people’s lives and the club’s football hopes for 2020, Jon has been front and centre on handling all delicate matters with players and displaying that personal touch,” Glen Eira President Ivan Delac said.
Edgar arrived at the club with an exceptional coaching resume highlighted by premiership success at St Kevin’s OB in 2015 as well as Port Melbourne and De La Salle U19’s.
“As a seasoned VAFA and Premier B premiership coach, there was no doubt Jon is the right man to drive this club towards premier football,” Delac said.
“Jon has used the binding success of our 2018 premiership with a young team and the addition of two more U19’s squads to ensure we have a super competitive squad for 2021.”
The reappointment of Rossiter as senior women’s coach comes after the club’s Division 4 premiership in 2019.
The team was a standout in their section all season, losing just one game throughout the home and away fixture before defeating Richmond Central and Ajax in straight sets during finals.
“Despite strong interest from multiple candidates, re-appointing Tim for the 2021 season was the easiest decision I have been involved in at the club,” Delac said.
“Tim was the architect of an amazing inaugural season of senior women’s football for Glen Eira, and there is no doubt his quality coaching and inclusive approach has led to the club being able to submit a second women’s team in only our second season.”
Glen Eira’s Senior Women’s football story is a romantic one, with Tim’s eldest daughter Zoe captaining the team to the 2019 premiership – like her father did for Glenhuntly FC in 1994.
In more exciting coaching news, the club’s clear focus on supporting the transition from Holmesglen U19’s football to seniors has led to them welcoming VAFA legend Dave Matthews into the position of Senior Development Coach.
“There is no doubt Dave is one of the great people in the VAFA and given his role in the club’s first premiership coaching team in 2016 and it is simply fantastic to see him back at Packer Park,” Delac said.
“Getting that process right (the transition from U19’s to Seniors) is vital for Glen Eira’s long-term success and putting together a quality coaching team like Jon, Dave and others is the first step to realising our potential both on and off the field.”
