The VAFA is excited to announce the appointment of Daniel Harford as senior coach of the Big V women’s side ahead of our clash with the Adelaide Footy League in June.
Harford, who replaces outgoing coach Tom Stafford, is the current AFLW coach of Carlton FC and will bring a raft of experience to the role after leading the Blues to last year’s AFLW Grand Final. Following their outstanding 2019 season, he was named the first-ever AFLW Coach of the Year.
Prior to his time at the Blues, Harford was the 2015 premiership co-coach of St Kevin’s OB and led them to an undefeated Premier B season.
Originally from Parade College, Harford was captain of Victoria Metro in the Teal Cup and won the Larke Medal as the best player in 1994. He was then drafted by Hawthorn FC with the 8th overall pick where he played 153 games before a short stint with Carlton in 2004.
Harford is currently co-host of VAFA broadcast partner RSN 927’s ‘The Breakfast Club’.
The Big V Women’s side will face off with the Adelaide Footy League on Saturday 6 June at Elsternwick Park.
