VAFA announces venues for 2024 Finals Series
Venues for the 2024 VAFA Finals Series have been announced, highlighted by four state league grounds. 131 finals matches across 32 divisions will be played over a seven week period,
Preston Bullants will enter Premier C with flag in hand after claiming the Division 1 premiership with a 10-point victory over UHS-VU at Box Hill City Oval.
The Bullants, who have now claimed four flags since joining the VAFA in 2013, kicked five goals to one in the opening half and held a 27-point lead at the main break.
The Vultures hit back with five goals to three in the second half, but it was too little too late as Sean Calcedo added to his second straight LS Pepper Medal with a BOG medallion. Thomas Hill kicked two and found plenty of it while they got strong support from Gerard Sutton and Alex Ricco.
Liam Sutton top-scored with three goals for the Bullants while Isaac Brambley and Benjamin Anderson led the Vultures’ second-half resurgence.
It was an incredible effort from the Vultures to make their third straight grand final after claiming the win of the year in last week’s preliminary, defeating Peninsula OB after the siren in extra-time.
