Lifting themselves out of the race for relegation in Premier B was Parkdale Vultures, as they put Old Geelong to the sword by 26 points at Gerry Green Reserve. Three majors apiece from Alex Derzekos and Liam Marshall helped put an end to the Vultures five-game losing streak, while also moving a game ahead of the Roys, Blues and OGs in the race to stay out of relegation.
After recording their largest margin of victory a week ago, Caulfield Grammarians were able to better themselves this time around as they defeated Fitzroy by 120 points at Glenhuntly Oval. Julian Dobosz (5), Ashley Krakauer (3), Brendon Goddard (3) and Keegan Stewart (3) did most of the damage as the Fields’ once again proved their the team to beat in Premier B.
Making way for the Sharks was St Bedes/Mentone Tigers, as they were outclassed by University Blacks by 110 points at Brindisi Street Oval. Notching their sixth win in a row, the Blacks were led by Daniel McCollough’s five majors and Campbell Moorfield’s four, while Tom Swift and Bede Mahon received the votes in the wire-to-wire victory.
Despite being challenged early, Old Scotch continued to pile up the wins as they dismissed Monash Blues by 39 points at Frearson Oval. A six-goal haul from James Sansom and a best afield performance from Will Mitchell led the Cards’ to their third win in a row, keeping them level with Caulfield for top spot.
After falling out of the four a fortnight ago, Beaumaris have reclaimed their top-four standing in a dominating 59-point victory over Old Haileybury at Princes Park. Chris Grigoriadis and Matt Petering led the way for the Sharks with three apiece while Oscar McMaster was named best afield in the win.
