Caulfield Grammarians’ unbeaten run in Premier B officially came to an end as they went down to Old Scotch by 14 points at Camberwell Sports Ground. The Fields ran out to a 30-point lead at the first break, but the Cardinals wrestled back the momentum with 13 goals to six for the remainder of the match. Lachlan Byrne-Jones starred for the Cardinals with a game-high four goals while Will Carrington was named BOG. Nick Jamieson, who returned from injury for his first game this year, took little time to make his mark with two goals and a standout performance. Jared Risol and Will Osborn were two of the Field’s best as they remain on top of the ladder with 20% on the second-placed Scotch.
Monash Blues registered their third win of the season with a comprehensive 70-point victory over Old Geelong at Como Park. The Blues led by 11 points at the first break but kicked 13 goals to four from Q2-Q4 with five coming in the second term. Nick Petering made the forward 50 his own with five majors for the Blues and Joe Cosgriff was named their best player for the second game in a row. OG’s William Sloss continued his outstanding individual form and was named in the best for the third consecutive week. The win means the Blues jump over OGs and into eighth spot on the ladder.
St Bedes/Mentone Tigers ended a two-game losing streak with a comfortable 33-point win over Beaumaris at Brindisi St Oval. Kicking with the breeze in the opening term, the Tigers piled on six goals from 11 scoring shots and maintained the ascendancy throughout the day. Chris Mangoni continued his impressive form with a BOG display and was named in the best for the sixth time from nine games, while Nathan Fahey top-scored with three goals. Callum Heath fought hard for the Sharks as they remain in fourth spot but just 3.59% above the Tigers.
Old Haileybury made it three wins from their past four games with a five-point victory over Parkdale Vultures at Gerry Green Reserve. The Bloods trailed by seven at half time but booted four goals to two in the third and held on despite the Vultures outscoring them in the fourth. Peter Gleadhill was best afield and one of four Haileybury players to kick two goals while Thomas Jenkins and Thomas Redmond excelled for the Vultures.
11 goals to one in the opening half helped University Blacks to a commanding 94-point win over Fitzroy at Uni Oval. The goals were shared primarily by five players for Blacks with Joshua Wooding, Jarrod Carlson, Bede Mahon, Luke Sevior and Daniel McCullough kicking three each. Mahon was best afield for the Blacks while Harrison Grace and Max Davie were standouts for the Roys.
