Lions & Blacks on the board – William Buck Premier Men’s Round 3 in Review
As predicted, anyone can beat anyone on any given day in Premier Men’s, as a couple of 0-2 teams dug in to post their maiden wins in Round 3. Collegians
The final Premier B – Division 4 Big V side was announced at last night’s jumper presentation at Elsternwick Park ahead of the VAFA’s game against Perth FL this weekend.
Led by first-time captain Josh Steadman (Uni Blacks), the team consists of players from Premier B, Premier C, Division 1 and Division 2. Old Scotch boast the highest number of representatives with six while Caulfield Grammarians have four.
Jack Delbridge (Kew), Will Harbinson (Peninsula OB), Kristian Height (Whitefriars) and Luke Barker (YOG) each come from divisional clubs, with Height (a three-time country league B&F winner) the first captain/coach selected in recent memory.
Not one player represented the B-D4 side against Perth in Sandringham last year and only Josh Cowan (SBMT), Tate Short (Caulfield) and Lachlan Byrne-Jones (Old Scotch) have worn a Big V for the VAFA before in the U23’s and U19’s.
The team faces the Perth FL on Saturday and the game will be live streamed for VAFA supporters.
