Old Ivanhoe vs Old Camberwell
Old Ivanhoe toppled Old Camberwell in a low-scoring affair at Chelsworth Park by 11 points. After a draw and some difficult results, the Hoers secured a much-needed win. Behind, and at the brink of losing going into the last quarter Old Ivanhoe woke up and nailed four goals to the Wellers’ one. Michael Mitris was best-on-ground with two goals for the Hoers while for the Wellers it was Harry Crothers who starred with two.
Ormond vs Mazenod
Ormond put an end to Mazenod’s incredible run of form with a 21-point win at E.E. Gunn Reserve. The two battled it out for three quarters until the Monders kicked away with three unanswered goals in the fourth. Both sides keep their ladder positions, but the story of the match remains Mazenod’s squandered chances, booting a total of 5 goals and 17 behinds. Ormond’s Simon Buckley was BOG while Oscar Persson and Henry Simon scored two goals each. Mazenod’s Thomas Warby was a standout.
Williamstown CYMS vs Ajax
Williamstown CYMS punished Ajax at Fearon Reserve to the tune of 63 points. The CY’s smothered the Jackas all day despite a strong third quarter effort from Ajax where they outscored the CY’s five goals to three. The CY’s kept Ajax to one goal per quarter for the rest of the contest. The CY’s big scorers included Luke Fairley (4), Mitch Parkinson (3), Jack Gray (3) and Robert Chan (3) while Dylan Jones had another impressive week being named BOG. The Jackas’ Brandon Joel booted three and Charles Hamilton was their best with two majors.
Marcellin vs Old Mentonians
Old Mentonians impressed with an important away win over Marcellin by 16 points. Old Mentonians didn’t hide their intentions early as they took a three-goal lead. Marcellin responded strong squaring it up going into the second half with a one-point advantage. The Panthers took control in the second half almost doubling the home side’s output. Old Mentonians’ Lachlan Boyd and Marcellin’s Daniel McMahon booted three goals each and sit equal second on the Premier C goal kicking leader board. Lucas Haig was Old Mentonian’s best while for Marcellin Lachlan Rush impressed.
PEGS vs Hampton Rovers
PEGS won their second match of 2019, defeating Hampton Rovers by 17 points at PEGS Sporting Fields. A combined 6.31 was kicked between he two sides, with the Bombers booting four second half goals after an opening half of 10 straight behinds. PEGS’ Brett Hannah was responsible for two goals and Thomas Riley was best afield. Ryan Fogarty was the best for Hampton for a second straight week.
