Old Camberwell were challenged by St Bede/Mentone Tigers with a nine-point victory at the Gordon Barnard Reserve. The win for Old Camberwell was set up in the second quarter where they put through two goals and kept the goalless. Old Camberwell and Big V star Rhiannon Green and Eloise Defina were influential with their pressure and intensity applied inside forward 50. The win helps Old Camberwell to the top of the ladder for the first time this year while St Bedes/Mentone Tigers sit seventh with three wins and six losses from the first 10 rounds.
Caulfield Grammarians proved far too strong for fellow top four contender Monash Blues as they ran out 50-point winners at the Frearson Oval. Led by Kate Macqueen (3) and Irena Malliaras (2) in front of goal, they were huge for Caulfield combining with five majors. The lone goal scorer for Monash was Molly McFarlane in what was a hard day for the home team.
Old Xaverians ran out 15-point victors over Old Geelong at Xavier College. Grace Knox led from the front for Old Xaverians with two majors. The defense for Old Xaverians stood up well keeping Old Geelong scoreless in the first half of the match. Olivia Gleeson was the shining light for Old Geelong with two goals on a day they could not gain any forward momentum. Old Xaverians move to third and 1.54% away from the second-placed Monash Blues, while Old Geelong sit sixth.
