North Brunswick ended an 18-year stay in Division 4 when they defeated Parkside by 48 at Garvey Oval yesterday, earning a spot in this year’s grand final and promotion to Division 3 in 2019. The Bulls kicked nine goals to two in a dominant opening half, before adding five goals to four thereafter. Brendon George (4), Jake George (3) and Michael Salloum (3) continued their outstanding regular season form with 10 of the Bulls’ 14 goals, while Chris Bateman was also named among the best players. Isaac Romano and Adam Wells fought hard for the Red Devils, and Luciano Logozzo booted three goals of his own. The Bulls ended one of the longest streaks of any club in one section by earning promotion, while the Red Devils will face the X-Men next weekend.
St Francis Xavier will have the opportunity to earn a spot in the Division 4 grand final after they proved too strong for South Melbourne Districts in their elimination final, running out 30-point winners at Waverley Oval. Ryan Eggleston led the charge in a BOG performance for the X-Men, while Harrison Coe top-scored with three goals. Steve Clarke starred for the Swans and was named their best player for the seventh time this season and third game in a row. The Swans entered the four on the back of an outstanding Round 18 performance.
