Glen Eira (16-1) – Form; L W W W W Today – Canterbury (Away)
Best Case; The Gryphons can get through Saturday with a clean bill of health. The Minor Premiers have taken all before them this season and are steamrolling into an August & early September campaign.
Worst Case; Anyone who gets dropped from the side and loses their place in the side, now is not the time for niggles at Packer Reserve.
Hawthorn (12-5) – Form; W L L W L Today – Swinburne University (Home)
Best Case; The Hawks have had a very disappointing last month, only grabbing the one victory. A solid win against a team fighting for a finals spot is the perfect opportunity before Finals, and with Aaron Downie kicking a bag.
Worst Case; The spluttering end to the season continues and the Hawks fall to Swinburne and if a large result occurs at Oval 20 between the Falcons & Warriors, the lads from Rathmines lose their double chance.
Westbourne Grammarians (11-6) – Form; W L W W W Today – Albert Park (Away)
Best Case; The Warriors produce a monster win to go four consecutive wins into the finals, Hawthorn get beaten by Swinburne and all of a sudden the second semi-final awaits.
Worst Case; Another injury to key personnel with reports that Big V B-D4 Vice Captain, Michael Culliver, is currently under an injury cloud leading into the pinnacle of the season. A loss to Albert Park would also come into this category, given recent form lines, it really would be the worst of all cases.
Manningham Cobras (10-7) – Form; L W W L W Today – Aquinas (Home)
Best Case; Win. Simple as that.
Worst Case; A loss to Aquinas and either Canterbury or Swinburne get the points, going past Manningham and grabbing fourth spot. This season hangs on a knife’s edge, and the Cobras have had many dress rehearsals of mini-finals.
Swinburne University (10-7) – Form; W W W L W Today – Hawthorn (Away)
Best Case; The Razorbacks return the favour to the Hawks on their first encounter and walk away with a big victory which gives them the percentage to leapfrog Manningham in fourth.
Worst Case; Hawthorn get back to the form that inflicted a 12 goal win against them first time around.
Canterbury (9-8) – Form; W W L W L Today – Glen Eira (Home)
Best Case; Having the best percentage of 4th to 7th may come in handy for the Cobras if they are to collect the points against the Gryphons. Last round of the year can throw up some surprise results, especially if Glen Eira toy with their side. Get the points, and they’ll be checking the live scores to see if Manningham & Swinburne fall.
Worst Case; Canterbury have another reoccurrence of their second and third quarters from last week. If this is to happen against the competition’s best, this could be a long day to finish the season.
Aquinas (9-8) – Form; L W W W W Today – Manningham (Away)
Best Case; Aquinas will need to win their fifth straight game to give themselves a chance of ending Saturday in the top four. After increasing their percentage by 16 last weekend, the Bloods will look to continue this upward trend and to make up the difference of the clubs above them. It’s as simple as Aquinas winning, Swinburne lose to Hawthorn, Canterbury lose to Glen Eira and the Bloods make up the 1.29%. After turning for home at 3-6 and after not being in the top four since Round 4, they will enter the finals series in the most remarkable of circumstances.
Worst Case; A loss to the Cobras and the dream run comes to a halt.
Richmond Central (6-11) – Form; W L L L L Today – La Trobe University (Home)
Best Case; The Snakes have had a disastrous end to the season, and a game against the bottom side that conceded 40 goals last week will hopefully see some smiles return to the yellow and black.
Worst Case; Richmond Central have averaged 52 points a game over their past 5 matches, and fell in against Albert Park to record their only victory. A loss to the Trobers to end the season at Kevin Bartlett.
Albert Park (1-16) – Form; L L L L L Today – Westbourne Grammarians (Home)
Best Case; The Falcons find the game style that beat La Trobe Uni and nearly knocked off Richmond Central.
Worst Case; Albert Park have conceded 78 scoring shots the last two weeks, and if Westbourne can smell a double chance scenario, the Falcons backline will be under immense pressure. A proud club that will be a contender in 2019 in Division 4.
La Trobe University (1-16) – Form; L L L L L Today – Richmond Central (Away)
Best Case; A game against a side who has lost 4 on the trot. The opportunity to end the season on a high awaits, and after a victory Thomas Mooney gets named in the best for the 16th occasion.
Worst Case; A long season ends with another big defeat. The Trobers have battled all year and will reload in Division 4 in 2019.
