Peninsula claimed their second win in a row with a one-point victory over Old Geelong at Peninsula School Ground. Trailing by 23 points at half time, the Pirates nailed eight goals to four in a dominant second half. Jordan Pomeroy starred for the Pirates with a goal in a BOG display alongside William Harbinson (2) and Ricky Plummer (3) who combined for five. Jock Grimshaw top-scored with three goals for the Ogs as they remain third with nine wins for the season. The Pirates are now on four wins; the same number as Old Mentonians in eighth.
Old Ivanhoe’s slim finals hopes are still alive after they defeated the fourth-placed Old Camberwell by 13 points at Chelsworth Park. Leading by 40 points at three quarter time, the Hoers faced an improved Wellers outfit as they kicked four unanswered in the final term. Michael Del Monte starred for the Hoers in his 150th, while Dylan Buttifant kicked three goals. Ben Hart was back to his best for the Wellers, as they now sit just one position and two games ahead of the Hoers.
Marcellin ended a four-game losing streak with a comprehensive 152-point victory over St Mary’s Salesian at Ferndale Park. Nine goals to two in the opening term set the scene for the Round 15 massacre, with Andrew Kay exploding and finishing the day with 11 goals. Daniel McMahon booted six goals and Adam Tomaro four. Joel Mattiske was the best for the Saints, but they are now three games behind both the Pirates and Mentonians in 10th. The Eagles are sixth and two games behind the Wellers in fourth.
Fitzroy made it six wins on the trot with a commanding 72-point victory over Old Mentonians at Keysborough Playing Fields. Trailing by 12 points at quarter time, the Roys kicked away with 19 goals to six thereafter. Rory Angiolella, Nathan Ligris and Sam Baker each kicked three goals among 13 Fitzroy goal kickers, while Andrew Pettigrove was named best afield. Billy Chapman and Lewis Oliver were the best of the Panthers. They are now on the same number of wins as Peninsula.
Williamstown CYMS retained their spot atop the Premier C ladder with a 72-point win over PEGS at PEGS Sporting Fields. 10 goals to two in the opening half paved the way for the CYs as star forward Nick Ebinger top-scored with five for the day. Samuel Callard kicked thee in a BOG performance for the CYs, while Jackson Marr and Kane Horwood were the best of the Bombers.
