
VAFA club leaders join AFL Victoria’s ‘Lead Your Way’ program

If they didn’t quite have it already, North Brunswick secured premiership favouritism in Division 4 with an 11-point victory over St Francis Xavier. Trailing by nine points at half time and by four at the last break, the Bulls kicked away with four goals to one in the final term. The Bulls shared their 16 goals between 12 players, with Jake George the only Bull to kick three. Corey Green top-scored with five for the X-Men, while Harrison Coe snagged four. The Bulls remain undefeated and now go two games clear of both the X-Men and Swans on the ladder.
South Mornington registered their third win from their past four games, defeating Masala by 119 points at Fotheringham Reserve. South Mornington kicked seven goals to two in a dominant opening term and continued to lead their opponents with 17 of the last 20 goals. South Mornington forward Travis French exploded for 14 goals for the victors, securing the highest goal kicking haul from any VAFA senior player this season. Jordan Waite chipped in with five, while Zac Kurts was outstanding. Dale Gibb and Brandon Kelly fought valiantly for Masala as they search for their first win of the season.
Parkside inflicted South Melbourne Districts with their second straight loss, running out 33-point winners at Lindsay Hassett Oval. Trailing by eight points at half time, the Red Devils kicked 11 goals to five to run out the match, with five to one in the fourth securing the win. Tom Mitchell was BOG for the Red Devils and teammate Sam Gilfedder backed up his five-goal haul from last week with another four. Jordan Heis top-scored with four goals for the Swans alongside an impressive performance from Tom Murrihy for the second week in a row.
Mt Lilydale recorded their third win from four games as they defeated Box Hill North by 33 points at Mt Lilydale Mercy College. The Rams trailed by 10 points at the first break but hit the lead with five goals to two in the second half and did not give it up for the remainder of the match. Daniel Perry kicked three goals for the Rams and Tim Legg was named best afield for his standout display. No results had been entered for BHN at time of publication.
Eley Park Sharks proved too strong for Elsternwick as they held on for a nine-point victory at Whitehorse Reserve. The Sharks led by 34 points at three quarter time before the Wickers piled on 11 goals to two to try and snatch the win late in the match. Patrick Wheare was best for the Sharks for the second consecutive week, while Justin Hunter booted four goals for the Wickers.
