Old Ivanhoe ended a four-game losing streak when they defeated Old Mentonians by 34 points at Chelsworth Park. Despite giving up five goals to one in the fourth quarter, the game was won and done when the Hoers piled on 13 goals to five in the opening three terms and took a lead of 56 into the last. Adrian Del Monte kicked his second straight bag of four goals for the Hoers, while Sam Geilings and Carl Groth were best afield. Daniel Maitland was a standout for the Panthers and Lachlan Boyd nailed four goals of his own, but they sit sixth with two wins for the year. The Hoers recorded their second win and move up to seventh.
Six goals to one in the fourth quarter helped Fitzroy maintain their unbeaten run in Premier C, defeating Marcellin by 42 points at Brunswick St Oval. The Roys led by eight points at the last break but, led by outstanding performances from Nathan Jumeau and Aidan Lambert, ran over the Eagles to go 6-0. Lambert and Nino Lazzaro top-scored with three goals each for the Roys, while Daniel McMahon booted a trey for the Eagles. Jono Blanch and Mitchell Jones were the best for the Eagles as they slump to their third straight loss after winning two of their first three.
Old Geelong put last week’s loss to Williamstown CYMS behind them as they ran over Peninsula by 70 points at Como Park. Trailing by four points at quarter time, the Ogs accelerated with four unanswered in the second and continued with a further 10 goals to four in the second half. Callum Wood was unstoppable up forward on his way to six goals in a BOG display, while Edward Keach and Tom Balcombe impressed. The Pirates, whose information was not submitted at time of publication, have now lost five of six since coming down from Premier B and are in ninth spot on the ladder. The Ogs are safe in fourth spot, two games ahead of the Eagles in fifth.
41 scoring shots to eight indicates the dominance Williamstown CYMS imparted over St Mary’s Salesian as they ran out 143-point winners at Fearon Reserve. The CYs held a 12-point lead at the first break but exploded with 21 of the last 22 goals, keeping the Saints to a solitary major after quarter time. Robert Chan kicked two goals and was named best afield for the CYs, while Nick Ebinger (5), Jacob Wheelahan (3) and Ryan Joy (3) had little trouble finding the goals. Jack Elliston and Brett Borland fought hard for the Saints, but their percentage takes another hit to 51.20% in 10th spot on the ladder.
10 goals from Adrian Romanyk helped PEGS hold onto third spot on the Premier C ladder as they defeated Old Camberwell by 31 points at Gordon Barnard Reserve. The lead chopped and changed throughout he day but no margin exceeded six points at any break throughout the game until the Bombers exploded with eight goals to three in a dominant fourth term. Romanyk’s 10-goal haul comes off the back of nine last week, taking his season tally to 36 from six games. Zachary Genovesi starred alongside Romanyk, while James Allen kicked four goals as the best player for the Wellers.
