Big V coaches confirmed for Bendigo clashes
The VAFA are delighted to announce that LUKE MAHONEY & PAUL CARRIGAN will lead the Big V into battle against Bendigo FNL in July. The VAFA will send two teams
Peninsula Old Boys will commence their assault on Premier C under the leadership of newly-appointed captain, Sam Glenn.
Taking to Facebook with the announcement, the Pirates said Glenn was a popular choice among teammates to take over the captaincy.
“It’s pretty humbling for the boys to vote me in,” Glenn told Pirate Vision.
“I’m looking forward to getting into it and leading the boys out there.”
After climbing to Premier B for the first time in the club’s history in 2016 following a grand final appearance against Mazenod, the Pirates struggled to find consistency last year and were relegated with just three wins.
Returning to Premier C gives the Pirates another opportunity to claim their first senior flag and end a streak of eight straight grand final losses.
“We should aim for the top, don’t put a ceiling on it, try and play finals and contend for a flag,” Glenn said.
The Pirates will also enter the season under new coach, Shane Mottram, after he took over the reins from Nick Claringbold.
Peninsula will kick off their season with a Round 1 opener against Old Ivanhoe at the school ground on April 7.
