Founded in 1892, the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the oldest and largest metropolitan community football competition in Melbourne.
The VAFA is the premier home of Amateur Football in Australia and within our competition all players play for the love of the game.
A highly diverse and inclusive organisation, the competition encompasses 74 clubs fielding more than 250 teams with 10,000 men’s players and 2000 women across 30 sections.
In 2017, the VAFA successfully launched a women’s competition made up of 40 teams across five sections; the largest in metropolitan Melbourne.
The competition, under the Board and Administration, is developing a strategic plan for 2020 and beyond as we enter an exciting phase of growth and change.
The Board is seeking progressive and committed individuals who have experience and an understanding of community sporting organisations complemented by a strong business background. Your interest and expertise may be in anyone of the following areas; governance of community sport, women’s sports, marketing, digital, technology, strategic planning, legal or finance. You will be instrumental in contributing to and executing on our strategic plan over the next three years.
The VAFA proudly has a family-friendly, inclusive culture and is the only senior football competition which doesn’t allow the consumption of alcohol during its matches.
