Such is the tight-knit nature of the Premier C ladder, Marcellin rose from sixth to third this weekend on the back of their emphatic 138-point win over Kew at Victoria Park. The Eagles kicked 16 goals to six by three quarter time and exploded with 11 unanswered in the fourth. Max Waters and Tyson Wiegold impressed for the Bears as they sit 10th with two wins for the season.
After two consecutive, hard-fought losses totalling five points, Williamstown CYMS returned to the winners’ list with an 11-point victory over Old Camberwell. James Allen’s red-hot form continued for the Wellers and he was named their best for the second time in three outings, and Sam Powell backed up his three goals from last week with another bag of four. The CY’s narrowly retained fourth spot with Ogs hot on their heels in fifth, while the Wellers sit one game and a fair chunk of percentage outside the four in seventh.
Old Haileybury put last week’s loss to Marcellin behind them and came out firing as they defeated Old Ivanhoe by 77 points at Princes Park, Caulfield. Leading by 28 points at half time, the Bloods kicked away via a nine-goal to one third term. Like Old Haileybury, Caulfield Gramamrians put their Round 12 shock loss to Old Camberwell behind them and proved too strong for Old Mentonians as they ran out 36-point winners at Glenhuntly Oval. 13 scoring shots to one in the first term helped paved the way for the Fields, with Declan Reilly top-scoring for the day with three goals and making it 26 from his past six matches (6,6,4,4,3,3). Hugo Gates was BOG for the ladder-leading Fields while Comrey Edgeworth and Darcy Brown impressed for the eighth-placed Panthers.
