Preston Bullants took top spot on the Division 1 ladder following their hard-fought 14-point victory over the previously undefeated PEGS. Trailing by four goals at half time, the Bullants piled on seven unanswered goals in the third term which ultimately handed them their sixth win for the year. Lachlan McRedmond (two) was at his very best as he ran away with BOG honours for the Bullants, while Damon Marcon (three) continued to prove he is one of the best big game players in the competition. James Lenhart was impressive for the Bombers, who now fall to second spot but are still a game clear of Ormond, St Mary’s Salesian and Oakleigh.
Ormond made it three wins on the trot with a 94-point win against Brunswick NOBSPC, while Ivanhoe claimed their biggest scalp of 2017 as they defeated St Mary’s Salesian by 36 points at Ferndale Park. 10 individual goal kickers helped Oakleigh to a 41-point triumph over Therry Penola and Whitefriars claimed their first four points of the year with a 57-point victory over St John’s.
