A seven-goal to one opening half led Richmond Central to their second successive win, defeating Westbourne Grammarians by 39 points at Kevin Bartlett Reserve. The Snakes were dominant in the opening half, with Jake Munro booting three goals in the second quarter after three behinds in the first. Tom Foott and Jared Goldsack were named best for the Tigers, while Cam Pullen’s grunt work through the midfield set up numerous forward thrusts for the home team early on. Justin Porter (four) played a lone hand up forward for the Warriors as they remain third on the ladder, four spots above the Snakes.
UHS-VU proved far too strong for Albert Park, winning by 85 points on the back of 35 scoring shots to 15. Everyone on the Vultures’ list played a role with 13 goal kickers showcasing their proclivity for sharing the ball inside 50. 2015 Colts Medallist, Esubalew Ramsay (one), starred in a best-on-ground display for the Vultures, while Luke Liddiard was strong for the Falcons. The ZVultures strengthened their lead at the top of the ladder while the Falcons sit ninth with two wins and a percentage of 64.15.
Power House maintained their unbeaten run with a 55-point win over an improved South Melbourne Districts. Four goals to one in the second term gave the House a lead they would not give up for the remainder of the match, with Luke Stubbs (four) taking over from the injured Nick Nagel and River Carroll (three) as the leading goal kicking this week. Luke Money was named best for the Swans for the fourth consecutive week as they continue to improve as the weeks progress.
La Trobe University secured their third win for the season as they defeated Point Cook by 40 points at Saltwater Reserve. Brady McDonald starred in a BOG display for the Trobers and Mitch Gleeson top-scored with three majors. The Bulldogs trailed by just two points at the last break but were unable to sustain the intensity and gave up seven goals to one in the fourth. Marcus Groves (two) continued his stellar 2017 form as the most impressive player for the Bulldogs.
Swinburne University managed to hold on in the second half and claim a seven-point victory over Canterbury at St James Park. Leadin by 16 points at the half, the Razorbacks gave up nine goals to seven in a thrilling final two terms and hold on for the win. Ben Higgins starred with four goals for the sixth-placed Razorbacks while Andrew Hummerston did the damage at the other end with six for the Cobras.
