WOMEN’S PREMIER
A big last quarter helped Marcellin to a 61-point win over Caulfield Grammarians at Bulleen Park West Oval. Marcellin led at every break, but took charge in the fourth quarter kicking six goals to Caulfield’s none. Laura Robertson and Chiara Moretta booted a combined six of Marcellin’s 10 goals for the day.
In similar fashion, a standout final term secured a 53-33 point win for SKOB Saints against Old Trinity at Basil St Reserve. After an even contest for the first three quarters the Saints managed to keep Old Trinity at bay by kicking two goals to none in the fourth. Breanna Doyle shone for the SKOB’s while Vanessa Murphy was Old Trinity’s best.
Another important fourth quarter saw Brunswick Renegades take home the points at Alec Gillon Oval, defeating Old Xaverians by one goal straight. Both teams were left scoreless after the first three quarters, but the Renegades edged out their opponent with three goals to two in the final term. The final score sat at 21-15.
Sportscover Arena played host to Fitzroy-ACU’s 51-point win against Melbourne University. A steady four-quarter performance saw Fitzroy lead throughout and gradually build on their winning score. Melbourne Uni were left to just one behind in a game where Mugar Lauren Collis shone.
WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT DIVISION 1
A low-scoring affair saw Old Haileybury edge out Monash Blues by 13 points at Princes Park Oval 2. Kicking a goal each quarter, Old Haileybury’s four goals was enough to defeat Monash’s two. Danielle Frawley was amongst the Hearts’ goal scorers while Michaela Pollock kicked one of Monash’s two.
A two goal to none first quarter prompted a 36-16 point St Mary’s Salesian win over Old Geelong at Ferndale Park. St Mary’s added another 3 goals for the remainder of the game while Old Geelong finished with two. St Mary’s Pip Peschke and Old Geelong’s Amelia Cronin were two of the best for the day.
Beaumaris secured their fifth win with a 33-point victory over Ormond AFC at Banksia Reserve. A consistent four quarters saw Beaumaris lead after every break with a gradual increase in score to get them to 50 and their opponent to 17. Leisl Doehring kicked two of Beaumaris’ six.
West Brunswick remains undefeated after a 24-14 point win against Old Brighton at Brighton Beach Oval. A slightly better second half after an even first was enough for West Brunswick to take home their sixth win. Old Brighton’s Olivia Ogilvie and West Brunswick’s Maggie Forbes had stand out performances in the close encounter.
WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT DIVISION 2
Old Camberwell managed to hold off Ivanhoe AFC to a seven-point win away at Ivanhoe Park. After trailing at half time, a tenacious second half saw Old Camberwell outscore the Ivanhoe. Eloise Defina’s two goals contributed to the comeback win.
Oakleigh held off Old Carey at W.A Scammell Reserve with a 23-11 point win. A three goal to none third term put Oakleigh in prime position for their win. Old Carey showed signs of fight with a goal in the fourth but Oakleigh were able to remain composed.
Collegians had their fourth win after defeating St Bedes by 16 points at Harry Trott Oval. A goal each quarter compared to the Tiger’s two for the entirety of the match was enough to get Collegians over the line. A best on ground performance from Eliza Cooper was a positive to take home for St Bedes.
Uhs-Vu AFC defeated Yarra Old Grammarians by 27 points at Doncaster Reserve. A three goal to none second quarter as well as a combined four goals from Ruby Horton (2) and Mara McSweeney (2) helped their Uhs to a 44-17 point win.
WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT DIVISION 3
Ajax remains undefeated in their new division after a massive 80-point win over Melbourne University. The strong performance saw Ajax kick a respectable 11 goals for the day to leave Melbourne Uni scoreless until the final term. Ajax’s Maya Glikfield’s four goals contributed to the 81-1 point win.
In a close encounter Mazenod OC were able to remain composed with a three-point win over Hampton Rovers at Elsternwick Park Oval 2. After a scoreless three quarters for both sides, a big final term saw Mazenod edge out the Rovers, just. 2 goals apiece from Mazenod’s Madison Little and Kimberley Watson were heavily influential.
Old Mentonians had a big 55-point win over Therry Penola at Keysborough Playing Fields. A steady four-quarter team performance resulted in Old Mentonians running away with the match. A combined eight goals from Emily Whitehorse, Belinda Griffiths, Kayla Hamill and Chelsea Dutt summed up Old Mentonians’ day.
WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT DIVISION 4
Four goals from Nicole Aldridge helped SKOB Saints (2) to an impressive 76-0 point against Brunswick Renegades (2) at Basil St Reserve. A big eight-goal to none first half showcased the SKOB’s foot skills and dominance. The Saints now sit seventh on their ladder.
Hawthorn AFC took home a 50-point win against Canterbury Football Club at Canterbury Sportsground. Hawthorn’s steady performance saw them boot seven for the day as well as keep Canterbury from scoring any majors. With a final score of 53-3, Hawthorn’s Alana Sarec and Canterbury’s Eshana Singh were the best for the day.
Spectators at Ferndale Park were treated to a 17-point St Mary’s Salesian win against De La Salle. In a tight contest, St Mary’s took hold of the game after half time by kicking two goals to none for the remainder of the match. Elise Burton (2) and Penelope Heath (2) kicked four of St Mary’s five goals in the 36-19 point win.
A dominant performance saw Fitzroy (2) defeat Bulleen Templestowe by 44 points at Ramsden St Oval. Fitzroy were gradually able to build on their score and lead, while Bulleen Templestowe were kept to just one major. Madeleine Symons and Anthea Clarke were some of Fitzroy’s best for the day.
South Melbourne Districts were able to edge out a tenacious Swinburne University AFC with a four-point win at Gary Smorgan Oval. It was an even contest, but South Melbourne’s one goal to none second half was enough to get them over the line. Bridget Lane kicked both of SMD’s goals, while Lauren Johnson kicked Swinburne’s one. The final score sat at 14-10.
