St Francis Xavier were unable to claim victory in their return to Division 4, going down to North Brunswick by 66 points at Allard Park. Six straight goals in the opening term was enough for the Bulls as they maintained a healthy lead for the remainder of the match. Thomas Falconer and John Tiernan kicked four goals each for the Bulls while Scott Haughton was the best of the X-Men who returned to Division 4 from Club XVIII this year.
Nine goals from Liam Whelan helped Aquinas to a comprehensive 94-point win against Mt Lilydale at Aquinas College. After suffering relegation and recruiting more than 30 new players, the Bloods piled on 44 scoring shots to 15 with Philip Jurkovsky (five) and Philip Dyck (five) joining Whelan as scoreboard assassins. Tyson Spencer was excellent as the number one performer for the Rams.
Eley Park Sharks showcased their vast improvement over the off-season with a 52-point win over Parkside at Whitehorse reserve. It was the Red Devils’ first match in Division 4 since 2015 and they were little match for the Sharks as Connor White (five) and Jayden Pritchard (four) finished the outstanding midfield work. Matthew Soligo and 2016 U19 Medallsit Isaac Romano stood strong with four goals each for the Red Devils.
