An Army is assembling for a fun run/walk to help raise funds for Jane Barnes as she continues her brave battle with leukaemia.
Daughter of Ormond premiership player and Big V Champion, Russell, wife Jude and sister of current St Bedes/Mentone Tigers forward, Michael, Jane was first diagnosed in March 2016 with a rare, mixed type leukaemia, resulting in an extended period in and out of hospital.
Despite receiving a bone marrow transplant in June, Jane’s leukaemia returned and she is now taking part in a world-first treatment plan over the course of two years.
Jane is currently in remission but still has to go through the countless hospital visits and treatment until the two-year treatment is complete.
Jane’s Army will participate in a 5km fun run/walk on Sunday 2 April at Boss James Reserve to raise money and assist with Jane’s ongoing treatment and recovery.
All money raised will be donated to Jane, the Alfred Hospital for their amazing care and support, and Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision (aimed to raise funds and find new treatments for bone marrow failure).
For those wanting to join Jane’s Army and take part in the fun run/walk, they can register by following this link:
