Big V coaches confirmed for Bendigo clashes
The VAFA are delighted to announce that LUKE MAHONEY & PAUL CARRIGAN will lead the Big V into battle against Bendigo FNL in July. The VAFA will send two teams
The VAFA congratulates De La Salle young star, Josh Tyquin, on his Round 15 Grill’d Rising Star nomination.
“Josh is in his second year with De La Salle being a graduate of De La Salle College. In 2015 he started the year in the Under 19’s as a goal kicking forward and graduated to the seniors where his bravery at the contest stood out. He was moved to defence at the back end of last year and displayed maturity beyond his years.
His commitment to the hard ball unfortunately led to an injury that saw him miss the club’s finals appearance in 2015. Josh has continued his development in 2016 to be an automatic selection in the seniors each week despite still being eligible for Premier Under 19s. He was rewarded with VAFA State Under 19 selections earlier this year.
Josh is a determined left footer who is strong overhead and hard at the contest. His left-footed delivery is unique yet very effective and he demonstrates a competitiveness and bravery that wins him accolades week in, week out. His decision making and poise are also a feature of his game.
Quiet but determined, Josh is leader amongst our younger playing group and emerging under 19’s. He is often seen doing an extra nights training with his old school mates in the 19’s. The club sees Josh as a leader of significance in the future.
Josh is a highly talented all-round sportsman which sees his summer involved with sending down quick left arm deliveries with District Cricket Premier club St Kilda.”
