Mazenod ended their two-game losing streak as they outran Ormond to the tune of 44 points at Central Reserve. Leading by just 13 points at the last break, the Nodders piled on six goals to one in a dominant final term. Rob Mann the main beneficiary with four majors up forward, while Liam Riley was named best afield for the Nodders. Isaiah Tahana booted three for the Monders as they succumb to their fifth loss from their last six outings.
Old Ivanhoe and Marcellin’s storied history created another chapter yesterday as the two sides tied 78-all at Chelsworth Park. Trailing by 13 points at the last break, the Eagles kicked 2.3 to the Hoes’ 0.2 to tie things up when the final siren sounded. Adrian Del Monte backed up his seven goals from last week with three for the Hoes, while Robert Costanzo top-scored with four for the Eagles. Jono Blanch continued his standout form as the Eagles’ best, as did Sam Wilcox for the home side. Marcellin are now half a game behind Oakleigh and Old Camberwell in ninth.
Six goals to one in the final term helped Caulfield Grammarians to a 25-point come-from-behind win against Kew at Glenhuntly Oval. Trailing by seven points at three quarter time, the Fields were relentless in the last term with Harrison Mills leading the charge. Will Osborn and Charlie Logan kicked two goals each for the Fields, while Andrew Brazzale was the sole multiple goal kicker for the Bears. The loss makes it difficult for the Bears to make a charge for finals as they sit 10 points behind the Hoes.
Old Camberwell registered an important win against Williamstown CYMS, defeating them by 20 points and putting half a game between themselves and relegation. Cameron Wilson starred in a best-on-ground performance, and Jackson Eade kicked three majors for the Wellers. The CYs had eight individual goal kickers for the match, and were led admirably by Yuma Hemphill.
Peninsula’s season continues to go from strength to strength as they registered their sixth successive victory with a 77-point win against Oakleigh at Peninsula School Ground. Stefan Barbour bagged five goals and took his commanding season tally to 53 from 14 games for the Pirates, while Mitch Kellerman and Brad Schuurman starred around the ground. Andrew Mase stood tallest for the Krushers as their best performer.
