UHS-VU came from nine points down at half time and defeated South Melbourne Districts by eight points at Brens Oval. Nicholas Devereux led the way for the Vultures with three goals, while Jason Clifford kicked six of the Swans’ 11 in a standout performance. The Vultures are seventh at 5-5, two spots below the Swans.
Canterbury’s five-game winless streak came to an emphatic end as they ran over Albert Park by 50 points at Canterbury Sports Ground. Rohan Walmsley and Nick Szabo combined for nine goals, while Tyson Cattle earnt his second best afield performance for the Falcons alongside Justin Mahoney’s two goals.
Aquinas suffered their worst loss for the season as they went down to La Trobe University by 106 points, kicking just seven points from two scoring shots for the game. Mitch Gleeson’s outstanding season in front of goal continued as he kicked six for La Trobe, while Jacob Christie starred. Nicholas Morrison-Storey is playing a lone hand for the Bloods at the moment after he was named their best for the second consecutive match. La Trobe are flying in third spot with weight wins for the year.
Glen Eira put a goalless first term behind them as they came from 35 points down to defeat the previously undefeated Hawthorn AFC by 13 points at Rathmines Reserve. Julius Waras Carstensen’s season goes from strength to strength each week as he booted six goals in the best-on-ground performance. Jason Ince kicked three for the Hawks and Steven Wintle battled hard all day.
Parkside registered their first victory for the year when they upset Power House to the tune of five points at Ross Gregory Oval. Darren Gresham starred for the Red Devils and Justin Ross kicked three goals. River Carroll was a standout for Power House on the back of his four majors.
Swinburne University proved too strong for Elsternwick at St James Park, defeating them by 31 points for their fourth win of the year. Ben Lewis was irrepressible as BOG for the Razorbacks, alongside Charles Carlson and Matt Greenwood. Julian Yeatman stood tall in front of goal with three for the Wicks after the Razorbacks were able to shut down goal kicking phenomenon Justin Hunter.
