Beaumaris continued their unbeaten run in Premier B this season, defeating Ajax by 56 points at Banksia Reserve and taking their overall tally to eight wins and one draw at the half way point of the year. Lachlan Boyd kicked four in his best game for the Sharks this season, while David Fayman kicked three of the Jackas’ six for the game.
Last weekend’s loss to the Sharks was soon forgotten as Old Scotch returned to the winner’s table and defeated Hampton Rovers by 95 points at Boss James Reserve. 33 scoring shots to 13 told the tail of the day as James Sansom continued his stellar form in front of goal with four majors in his side’s win. James Bowden kicked two in a best on ground display for the Cardinals, while Jack Toouli stood tall for the Rovers.
After losing their first four games of the season, Fitzroy made it four from their past five (including a draw) when they ran over Parkdale Vultures by 23 points at Brunswick Street Oval and subsequently entered the top four for the first time this season. Young gun, Max Davie, starred for the Roys, while Jason Bristow did his utmost in a dominant display for the Vultures.
Monash Blues made it two wins from their past three outings with a 14-point victory against Old Brighton at Frearson Oval. Trailing by seven points at three quarter time, the Blues kicked four unanswered goals to run away with their fourth win for the season. Nick Petering starred with four majors for the fifth-placed Blues, and Michael Karayannis kicked two for the ninth-placed Tonners.
St Bedes/Mentone Tigers kept in touch with both Beaumaris and Old Scotch as they defeated Old Haileybury by 45 points at Princes Park Caulfield. Luke Velluto snagged four, while Michael Barnes, Alex Smout, Simon Richards and George Rowlands kicked three each for the Tigers. John Nicolopoulos was the standout performer for the Bloods with four goals to his name.
