Kew Bears have made it three premierships in three years after they defeated Ormond by 30 points in the Division 1 decider at Coburg City Oval this afternoon.
In front of an enthusiastic and vocal crowd, the Bears stood up when it counted in the final quarter to claim victory.
Leading by 32 points at the half, the Bears were tested by the Monders as they reduced the deficit four points towards the end of the third term.
With the premiership on the line, the Bears stood tall and sent through four goals to one in the final term to run away with the win.
Kew’s Kyle Margaritis dominated in a best-on-ground performance and won the Manton Medal as the player judged best afield by the officiating umpires, while Pepper Medal runner-up Jack Delbridge was constantly at the coalface and winning the hard ball.
Sam Barnes was the best for the Monders, while Mal Michael proved a constant threat when the ball went forward. Despite the loss, Ormond will celebrate their reserves’ victory against Prahran Assumption earlier in the day.
After finishing the home and away fixture on top of the ladder, Ormond will join Kew in Premier C in 2016 and will look to threaten once again.
