Richmond Central won their seventh match for the season with a monster 80-point win against Elsternwick at Elsternwick Park Oval. Jake Munro starred in the high scoring affair, booting 13 goals and giving himself a 10-goal buffer at the top of the Division 2 goal kicking leader board.
Ivanhoe moved two games clear at the top of the ladder following their 43-point win against second-placed St John’s at Ivanhoe Park. Mitchell Lovell led from the front yet again, kicking five majors for the winning side.
In another high-scoring affair in Division 2, Old Eltham Collegians dismantled MHSOB to the tune of 40 points at Melbourne High School. Kicking 21.17 (143) to 15.13 (103), the Turtles were rarely threatened as they continue to clock up the wins heading into finals. Benjamin Gill starred for the Turtles, booting 13 of their 21 goals in a best-on-ground display.
Monash Gryphons played out a classic with South Melbourne Districts, defeating the Swans by eight points at East Caulfield Reserve. Leading by 44 points at the three quarter time break, the Gryphons allowed eight goals to two as the Swans attempted a stirring comeback. The goal kicking load was shared among both sides, with the Gryphons having 12 separate goal kickers and the Swans boasting 11.
Northern Blues kept their top four chances alive with a 20-point victory against Old Paradians at Garvey Oval. A three-goal to nil opening term paved the way for the Blues, who now sit on the same amount of wins as both the Turtles and the Raiders.
