About Dylan Alcott
Dylan was born with a tumor wrapped around his spinal cord which was operated on during the first few weeks of his life. The tumor was successfully cut out, however it left Dylan a paraplegic, leaving him wheelchair bound for the rest of his life.
Dylan developed a love for sport and has competed for Victoria in swimming and for Australia in wheelchair tennis and wheelchair basketball. In 2008 at the Beijing Paralympics at the age of just 17 he became the youngest ever gold medal winner for wheelchair basketball.
In 2014, Dylan returned to playing tennis and claimed the quad wheelchair singles title at the 2015 Australian Open and 2015 French Open. He is currently ranked #1 in the world and was recently crowned the Most Outstanding Athlete with a disability at the recent Tennis Victoria Awards.
