Multicultural Round is upon us. As such, we at VAFA HQ wish to celebrate those within our league from diversified cultures and ethnicities, and recognise them for the role they play in our association.
In our latest edition, we celebrate St Mary’s Salesian pair Gary Puruntatameri and Keiran Apuatimi of the Tiwi Islands.

“Gary and Keiran play for St Mary’s Salesian and have come to the club as recipients of the Palmary Development Program, which enables Indigenous young adults to study at Swinburne University and live in Melbourne for a year.
Both boys hail from the Tiwi Islands and will be studying a certificate in horticulture at Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn.
While Kieran returned to the Northern Territory, Gary has kicked 39 goals and is sitting sixth on the overall goal kicking leaderboard in Division 1. He is one of the most mercurial players in the competition.”
