The Holmesglen Under 19 Premier Men’s competition provided some thrilling footy in 2024, with so much exciting young talent on display. Old Brighton (15-3) claimed the minor premiership by two
Marcellin refused to give up top position this week as they crushed Old Haileybury by 65 points at Marcellin College. A nine-goal to two second half ensured the Eagles’ win, with no one player among their 11 goal scorers kicking more than two. Michael Abrahams was named best afield for the Eagles in their sixth straight win in Premier C. The loss leaves the Bloods just one win clear in fourth position after Peninsula’s victory against Oakleigh.
Monash Blues made it six wins on the trot with a 26-point triumph over Williamstown CYMS at Frearson Oval earlier today. Leading by eight points the final change, the Blues rallied in the last and kicked five goals to two as they try and earn top position back from Marcellin. Andrew Young lit it up in a best-on-ground performance, while Nicholas Ebinger kicked three for the CYs.
Old Ivanhoe overcame a gallant Therry Penola to run out winners by nine points at Chelsworth Park. After failing to kick a goal last week, the Lions were dominant in the first three quarters, before a four-goal to one final term sealed their fate. Robbie Glavas turned it on for the Hoes and nailed three majors for the match.
Old Camberwell put an end to three straight losses in Premier C, defeating PEGS by 16 points at PEGS Sporting Fields. Trailing by 12 points at half time, the Wells sent through six goals to one in the second half to overrun the bottom-of-the-table Bombers. The Wells climb to eighth on the ladder following their third win for season, while the Bombers and Lions currently take up the two relegation positions.
Peninsula kept their finals aspirations alive with a 94-point annihilation of Oakleigh at Peninsula School Grounds. The Pirates could not have been any more consistent with their scoring, kicking exactly five goals in each quarter of the match. James Fletcher continues to prove he’s in the top echelon of Premier C players on the back of three goals and a best-on-ground performance for the Pirates, while Stefan Barbour top scored with four.
