Ormond put last weeks’ loss to Kew behind them, returning to the winners’ table with a 46-point win against NOBS/St Pats at Alec Gillon Oval. Despite trailing at quarter-time, the Monders proved too strong as they kicked 13 goals to six in the ensuing three quarters. Blair Atkins dominated in a best-on-ground performance, while Isaiah Tahana contributed with five goals.
A seven-goal opening term led Old Geelong to a mammoth 131-point victory against Whitefriars at Como Park. Callum Wood led from the front with six goals, while Jack McMeel chipped in with four. The Ogs are currently breathing down Ormond’s neck in third place on the Division 1 ladder, boasting a higher percentage than the second-placed Monders.
St Mary’s Salesian led from start to finish as they defeated the cellar-dwelling Yarra Valley by 43 points at Ferndale Park today. A seven-goal to one opening stanza set the tone for the rest of the match, as the Bushrangers struggled to make any inroads despite Steve Donald’s five goals. The win keeps the Saints two games clear in fourth position, while the Bushrangers continue to sit at the bottom of the table and without a win.
Bulleen Templestowe registered their third win for the season with a commanding 35-point victory against Old Mentonians at Ted Ajani Reserve. Leading by 28 points at the first break, the Bullants never looked back as they piled on eight more goals to the Panthers’ seven. Matz and Moio were named best for the Bullants, while Douglas Payton stood tall for the losing side.
Kew took their winning streak to 11 with a gutsy 21-point come-from-behind victory against Prahran Assumption at Toorak Park. Andrew Brazzale continued the excellent form he has shown throughout the first half of the season with three goals in a best-on-ground performance.
