A seven goal third quarter blitz was enough for Caulfield Grammar to hold off a fast finishing Old Ivanhoe squad at Glenhuntly Oval on Saturday afternoon. The 7 point win was Caulfield’s second on the trot against strong opposition, having knocked off a highly fancied Whitefriars unit last week. Lachlan Topp did all of his damage in the first three quarters booting four majors for the match, and Chris Bold was best afield on the day. Caulfield now find themselves 3-4 with a chance to edge closer to the top four with a win over St Bedes/Mentone this weekend.
Parkdale continued their march towards finals with another commanding victory. Led by Liam Marshall’s five goals, the Vultures were never headed by Mazenod as they cruised to the 60 point win. Marshall had his finger prints all over this contest and has quickly established himself as one of the more dangerous forwards in section two, sitting on 19 majors for the season. His support cast in Jaye Edmunds and Andrew Watterson hit the scoreboard again on the day with three and two goals respectively, and Daniel Rendell took best on ground honours in the comprehensive team win.
Other results from the round included a 125 point win to Old Brighton over Collegians, a 94-point Fitzroy rout of St Bedes/Mentone, and Whitefriars far too good for Marcellin winning by 60 points.

Old Carey and Old Xaverians played out another chapter in their great rivalry at Carey on Saturday. The contest was electrifying in the first half with Old Xaverians putting up a fantastic fight against the red hot Panthers, trailing by only 3 points at the main change. Ted Watkin was proving a handful up forward for the Xavs and Hayden Troiani was getting plenty of it. The Panthers upped the ante in the third quarter and the Xavs were found wanting. By the main break Old Carey found themselves 51 points ahead in what can only be described as an utterly dominant quarter of football. Although the Xavs managed to retrieve some respectability to the final scoreline, the Panthers ran out easy 26 point winners and sit atop the ladder for another week.
St Bernards will be rueing their inaccuracy in front of goal following their heartbreaking 1 point loss to Hampton Rovers. The Snow Dogs controlled the match and looked primed to win their first match of the season, heading into the final quarter with a 17 point lead. It wasn’t to be however, as the Rovers got a sniff and didn’t look back, booting four goals to one in the final quarter to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Toby Sullivan was best on for the winners.
In other results, Ormond knocked off Williamstown by 44 points, and Old Geelong were too strong for Old Camberwell, winning by 54 points.
