The tale in Division 1 is that there is no change at the top or bottom of the premiership ladder. Whilst there was jostling for position in the middle rungs, the section is hanging on for that first Kew v Ormond clash in the coming week’s to see who will be the strongest side in 2015.
St Mary’s Salesian shold have won their game against Prahran Assumption by more than the 10 point win they achieved at the final siren. Failure to capitalise on chances in the first half and a strong Two Blues comeback meant this was a tight finish. Nevertheless, St Mary’s are 4-2 whilst the Two Blues slip to 1-5.
Kew made light work of the visiting North Old Boys/St Patrick’s, as the Bears piled on the goals and pain for NOBS in their 127 point win. Andrew Brazzale (who else?) kicked ten goals but the Bears are a more even lot than that and any one of their 12 goal kickers or other stars could have taken BOG honours.
It was an equally sad scoreline at Como Park where Old Geelong dispatched Bulleen Templestowe by 172 points. Colby O’Brien slotted eight goals and just shaded Rupert De Crespigny (7 goals) for OGs BOG, on a dismal day for the Bullants who managed just 2.12 for the afternoon.
Ormond did the right thing by the marketers to keep their unbeaten run in tact after they rolled Old Mentonians by a handsome 52 points. Matt Martinov again amongst the goals, this time with four.
It was a shootout in Doncaster as local rivals Whitefriars made the short trip to collect the four points from Yarra Valley by 77. The Bushrangers managed 14.9 for the day, but couldn’t stop the torrent of goals coming at the other end from Whitefriars who kicked 26.14 to secure a much-needed win.
