The top of Premier B is now a race in two. St Kevins and Old Brighton are left to set the pace as the undefeated sides whilst at the other end of the ladder, Fitzroy and Parkdale Vultures are yet to open their accounts.
St Kevin’s handed Old Melburnians a touch up at the Junction Oval, eventually running out winners by 91 points. Steven Salopek slotted four goals as Skobbers restricted OM’s to just three goals for the day.
St Bedes/Mentone Tigers continue to find their mojo in Premier B as no fewer than 13 Tigers managed a goal in their 55 point win over Parkdale Vultures at Brindisi St. The Vultures were in striking distance at three quarter time, but another final term onslaught saw the Tigers slam on seven goals to run out easy winners.
Mazenod gave Heath Black his first win as a senior coach as the Nodders outlasted Caulfield Grammarians by 22 points at Central Reserve. Both Dalton and Lofthouse each kicked three to help get the Nodder’s season moving.
Hampton Rovers were brave but ultimately the gap in class was too much as Old Brighton won at Boss James by 29 points. Daniel Anthony was again the star as he booted seven of the Tonners’ 16 goals. Old Brighton are undefeated after three and look to be on a mission this year.
Fitzroy roared home with a flurry in the final quarter, but the Roys fell an agonising three points short of a resilient AJAX outfit at Brunwick St Oval. Stevic booted five brilliant majors for the Roys, but a goalless third quarter proved costly in the loss. Jake Lew was on the end of three of AJAX’s eight goals.
