Two sides remain untouched at the top of Division 2 whilst South Melbourne Districts are holding up the table without a win.
The match of the round was undoubtedly the two undefeated sides of Ivanhoe and Old Eltham’s meeting at Ivanhoe Park. The home side came out on top to stake an early claim on premiership favouritism as the Hoes recorded a 24 point. It could have been much more as Ivanhoe in fact won by two goals twelve, countless chances wasted as they pressed the Turtles all day. Reuben Blackmore-Moore booted four goals for Ivanhoe as they sit pretty on top after three rounds.
The other undefeated side is St Johns who outdid Ivanhoe’s effort for biggest win of the year when they thrashed a hapless South Melbourne Districts by 171 points. Aaron Thornton bagged seven goals, Kane Arnold six and Rohan Scott five in the rout. Districts again managed just the three goals, and will be glad to return to their home ground next week after a torrid two weeks on the road.
There was good news at Melbourne High School as the Old Boys got their first win of the year, handing Old Paradians their first loss of the year by 16 points. The Unicorns started slowly but a six goal second gave them the lead which they never relinquished.
Jake Munro’s seven goals were the highlight as Richmond Central got on the winners list for the first time in 2015 with an 18 point win over Monash Gryphons. The Snakes slammed on 8 goals in the third term to take the upper hand from the Gryphons who had controlled the first half.
Northern Blues too are on the winners list as they secured their first ever victory in Division 2 with a 38 point win over Elsternwick. Blues came out firing in the first term as they piled on six goals to one to take control of the game from the get go.
