Autumnal weather of early showers ceded the way for brilliant sunshine as Round 2 of William Buck Premier got into full swing. The story of the round is that both grand finalists of 2014 are yet to register a win, whilst both promoted sides are undefeated.
Old Carey showed they would be no pushover in William Buck Premier as they handed the reigning premiers a 23 defeat to leave Uni Blacks at 0-2. Julian Rowe kicked five goals in the win that was also Panther forward Jarrod Reid’s 100th game for the club.
Old Scotch came from behind to defeat De La Salle by eight points in a high scoring thriller at Camberwell. De La Salle led by as much as 25 points in the final term before the Cardinals roared home. Hugo Perry was again amongst the best, kicking four goals.
Old Trinity led at every change to hand Collegians their second loss from as many outings. In a tight, low scoring match the T’s were eventually home by 8 points. Jack Hunt was Old Trinity’s only major goal kicker with two, whilst Nick Corp had three for the home side in a losing cause.
Uni Blues continued their impressive start to the season with a 62 point win over Beaumaris at University Oval. Blues had unfurled their 2014 senior and reserves flags before their respective matches and the players of both teams celebrated in fine style on the field. Quin booted four goals for Blues as 10 players booted a major in the win.
St Bernards were irresistible for most of their 67 point win over Old Xaverians at Toorak Park. Adam Campbell booted five goals on his debut for the Bernies who extended the margin at every change. Boyse also contributed four goals to the Snowdogs, whilst Matt Handley booted four goals in a losing side.
Uni Blues top the ladder with Old Scotch and Old Trinity joining them on two wins. Old Carey are also undefeated and sit inside the four, whilst the ladder is being held up by Collegians, Blacks and De La Salle who are all yet to secure any points.
